Region 1 Championship Update - COVID-19 Announcement

2020 Region 1 Administrative Committee - COVID-19 Update

Earlier today the Region 1 Administrative Committee met to discuss the future of upcoming State and Regional Competitions in light of COVID-19.  
 
Following the guidance of USA Gymnastics, Local and Federal Authorities, all meets have been canceled at least through the end of March.  The following State Meets have been canceled:

Arizona - Optionals
Nevada - All Levels
NorCal Level 6-7
NorCal - Level 8-10
NorCal - Xcel Bronze
NorCal - Xcel Silver/Diamond
SoCal - Level 6-10
Utah - Optionals
Utah - Xcel Platinum/Diamond

Each individual meet host will be in contact with registered clubs regarding refunds.  Please remain patient as we navigate this difficult time. 
 
If your State Meet is canceled,  the registration for Regional Championships will change as follows: If your State Meet is not canceled, registration and payment will need to be submitted at the conclusion of the State Meet.
 
Due to the planned and possible future cancellations of State Meets, the Region 1 Administrative Committee has enacted the following policy:

Qualifications to Regionals
  • Any Level 6 - 10 athlete who qualifies to State Meet will qualify to Regionals.  
  • In the event an Xcel State Meet is canceled, Xcel Gymnasts who earn the following scores during the regular season will qualify to Regionals:
    • Xcel Silver and Gold 34.00 
    • Platinum 33.00
    • Diamond 32.00 
  • Qualification scores to Regionals from a hosted State Meet are the same as above.  The previously planned Xcel Regional Allotment will no longer apply.
  • Existing Petition procedures remain in place.
  • Existing Event Specialist procedures remain in place.
  • There will be no State Team Competition held at any level.
